Captain at sea Mark Spierings and Haim Delmar of Elbit Systems signed the contract. Soldiers with combat functions will soon receive a secure personal radio (PNR-1000), which they use to network with their group and platoon. The group commanders also receive a robust tablet (Raptor), with which they can share data digitally. The purchase is part of the VOSS project (Improved Operational Soldier System).
Today, the Ministry of Defense signed an additional contract for this with the Israeli company Elbit. According to Commander Dick Kreiter, the Dutch armed forces will soon be among the front runners within NATO when it comes to the connections of the risen military. Kreiter is Director of Projects at the Defense Materiel Organization.
Another contract was signed with Elbit: for the delivery of 4,300 new brightness enhancing (HV) glasses and more than 3,500 equipment packages. Both single and double hv goggles can be mounted on the new combat helmet. The hv glasses are purchased for the army and navy.
